A man was recently expressing that a woman wearing makeup doesn’t make him love her more. Could this man really think it is about him?

The reality of life is that attractive people (men and women) tend to be more confident, are more sought out by others, and receive more respect. Thus wearing makeup is similar to putting your best foot forward. (This can be equated to a man shaving.) When women wear appropriate makeup, the attention is on their face–where their intelligence is–and their opinions are taken more seriously.

Additionally, a woman wearing makeup signals a willingness to interact or build relationships–professional skills necessary when networking, negotiating and managing people. Furthermore, a woman wearing appropriate makeup is often judged to hold a more prestigious position and earn more money. This can, and often does, lead to promotions and higher salaries for women.

If a man wants to think it’s all about him, go ahead and let him. But don’t let him talk you out of feeling great about yourself!

May you always look great!
